Michael grew up in the Pacific Northwest, spending his childhood climbing trees, building forts, and playing in the nearby creek with his two brothers. From an early age, he felt a deep connection to the woods – the stillness of the trees and the songs of birds brought him a sense of peace and joy.
Michael’s passion for building and fixing things was sparked by working alongside his uncle, an independent contractor. Those early experiences taught him valuable skills and developed a lifelong love for creating and improving. For Michael, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of seeing a project come to life or solving a maintenance challenge.
In 2016, Michael discovered Pilgrim Firs and immediately fell in love with the camp. Nestled in the quiet woods, it quickly became his happy place. Over the past decade, he has had the privilege of caring for the site, saying, “I’m grateful that I get to be a part of keeping it a beautiful space that means so much to me and to so many others.”
Pilgrim Firs holds a special place in Michael’s heart – it’s where he met his wife. Then, in 2020, the couple was married at camp, deepening its significance in their lives. As a husband and father of two young boys, Michael spends his time at home working on house projects, playing with his sons, and enjoying quiet moments with his wife.
